Bandstand Promenade
If you’re a health freak, you are gonna love this place. It is a 15-minute walking pathway alongside the beach and is very popular among joggers. You can take a walk while enjoying the cool breezes. It is in the western part of Bandra and is considered a posh area due to many popular celebrities living nearby. On Sundays, you will witness public jamming sessions in the artists’ court. The famous Mumbai Festival called Celebrate Bandra, is also organised here at Bandstand Promenade. You can also visit here in the evening for a stunning sunset view. There is no fee to visit here.
Bandra Fort
This Fort was built by the Portuguese and is one of the very famous destinations in Mumbai. It is also known as Castella de Aguada, which means Fort of the waterfront. The history behind this name is that the Portuguese used to store a lot of guns here for the protection of this place from the enemies. This Fort is surrounded by Marine Bay on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. A lot of Bollywood movies like Jaane tu ya Jaane and Dil Chahta Hai have also been shot here. You can also take a look at the Bandra-Worli sea link from this fort. It is a must-visit place before you take your Mumbai to Goa flight.
The fort is open from 10 AM to 8 PM in the evening, and there is no entry fee for visitors.
Siddhivinayak Temple
You must have heard a lot about this temple already. It has a 2.5 ft long idol of Ganpati ji, which is unique from any other idol in the world. This temple has been renovated beautifully by the government. It is believed that if you visit this temple barefoot, your prayers will be answered. You will feel a sense of peace when you visit here. The best time to visit this six-storey temple is during the auspicious time of Ganesh Chaturthi. You can visit here from 5.30 in the morning till late 10 PM. On Tuesdays, it is open till 12 AM.
Juhu Beach
This is the place where the biggest superstar of the Hindi Film Industry, Amitabh Bachchan, lives. It is the most visited beach in Mumbai. You can simply chill at the beach and enjoy the pleasant weather. You can also play volleyball here and enjoy kite flying as well. Since you’re coming after a Goa to Mumbai flight, you must be on the lookout for pretty skies. The mesmerising sunset of this beach will definitely not disappoint you. You can try the famous vada pav of Mumbai and other local food here at Juhu Beach. There are no charges to visit here. The best time to come here is during the month of winter.
Bandra-Worli Sea Link
Also known as the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, this bridge of Mumbai came into work in 2009 at a time when there were only two links that were working. It is 5.6 kilometres long and is made by a strong architectural base and marvels. It is considered as the pride of Mumbai. The first cable sea link bridge, it became fully functional in the year 2010. It was inaugurated by Sonia Gandhi. The central and western suburb is joined by the bridge Bandra-worli Sea link. There is no fee to visit here. To cross the bridge, you must travel by car as two-wheelers are not allowed here. The toll would be anywhere around 70 to 150 INR.
Film City
In 1997, cinema visionary late. Shanta Ram, the late BR Chopra and the legendary actor Dilip Kumar inaugurated the Maharashtra Film Stage and Development Corporation Ltd., which we now fondly call the film city. Visiting Film City is a must when in Mumbai. Iconic films of the Hindi Film Industry were shot here only. The history of this place dates back to 1896, when India’s first motion picture was made by Dada Saheb Phalke. You can see a lot of your favourite actors shooting here. However, the entry is limited. For a tour, you can book a bus for just 600 INR for around 2 hours. The place is open from 10 in the morning till 5 in the evening for visitors.
